Dentist admits to using paper clips in root canals
Tue Jan 24, 2012
No, I can't understand it. If Medicaid doesn't pay enough for you to make a profit then don't take Medicaid patients. You can fight with the other dentists over the few people out there remaining with decent dental coverage. Count your blessings for being allowed into the dental cartel.
Gingrich daughter's teen work may have violated law
Wed Jan 18, 2012
You can't even cut your neighbors' lawns at 13? Yeah they need to be relaxed.
Los Angeles council requires condoms in porn films
Tue Jan 17, 2012
They'll just start doing all the filming in the suburbs or something. Some city out there will allow it. And there's always Nevada which isn't too far away. Most of the "stars" would have to relocate though.
Romney pegs his tax rate at around 15 percent
Tue Jan 17, 2012
Jim, its even worse than that. We're lucky if most of these guys ever pay capital gains tax on their gains. If they never sell they never pay and if they hold it until they die then the basis gets stepped up so there's no gains.
Loving the job, but hating the student loan debt
Thu Jan 5, 2012
If you're getting a good price on a useful degree then its worth it. Going private or out of state without scholarships for ugrad isn't.
Distressing news: House prices still falling
Tue Dec 6, 2011
Yeah, I don't know why falling home prices are thought of as a bad thing. A house is essentially just another consumer good. Nobody complains when cars and TVs get cheaper. Take advantage of the lower prices and buy a vacation home or something.
We are the median: Living on $50,000, military-style
Tue Dec 6, 2011
That 50K has to be including all the off base housing and food allowances. Base pay for E-5 is only $2965/mo.
Toothache lawsuit may stifle medical gag orders against online rants
Wed Nov 30, 2011
People know that online reviews aren't necessarily the most reliable things in the world and that you have to filter out the crazies from people that genuinely had a bad experience. Its just a review - not a debate. It doesn't need to be balanced and have the doctor's opinion of what happened.
Waiting for midnight, hungry families on food stamps give Walmart 'enormous spike'
Mon Nov 28, 2011
The one family has 5 kids. Maybe they didn't have them while on food stamps but that's one heck of a potential liability. I highly doubt this family has ever lived that far above paycheck to paycheck so having more than a few kids was probably unwise.
Common air travel myths -- busted
Wed Nov 23, 2011
That's not a myth. Everybody knows it isn't pleasant. Driving isn't pleasant either though. Not unless you are on some secluded road on a beautiful day. Driving in traffic sucks. I'd rather put up with the kids on a plane.
